“The media training provided by Desiree Peterkin Bell was incredibly valuable. SURJ at Sacred Heart (San Jose, CA) members use our voices to push for change under the direction of the organizations led by people of color. As white people doing anti-racist work, it was important to us that we receive media training from a Black professional. Desiree was the first person I turned to, and she delivered a training that was thorough, meaningful and addressed real scenarios that we might encounter. Our group left the training feeling empowered and confident, something that is reinforced time and time again by group members who credit Desiree’s media training with their ability to deliver strong sound bites and public comment.”
